Champagne Glow Highlighting Powder

With spring and sunshine finally here, I want to get my glow on. I’ve been loving looks featuring glowy highlights that get their punch from catching the light with a touch of glimmer, but not outright sparkle. A sort of optical effervescence, you could say—like champagne. A slight golden glow with dancing bubbles and a feeling of whimsy. And from that visual was born this absurdly simple-to-make Champagne Glow Highlighting Powder.

Rose Micellar Water

I’m pretty excited to be able to share a micellar water recipe I’m happy with. I’ve been experimenting with micellar water formulas quite a lot over the last year and while the concept is simple enough in theory, it took quite a lot of fiddling and refining to create something that is lovely in reality. The biggest part of refining this formula ended up being removing things, which can be hard for a person with far too many ingredients (cough cough) to do. I can just hear my hydrolyzed proteins and extracts singing to me from the pantry, and my humectants saying “surely, a bit more of me can only make your product better“. Shhhhh, ingredients. Stop leading me astray.

Super Concentrated Lemon Dishwashing Paste

If you’ve been using liquid dishwashing detergent, prepare to have your world rocked. Seriously. Solid dishwashing paste kicks dishwashing butt in ways you didn’t think could happen. It’s so amazing that I was actually excited about washing dishes as I was developing this recipe. Solid detergent blows liquid detergent out of the water and I will never understand why it’s not more readily available in North America. But no matter, because now you can make your own super concentrated lemon dishwashing paste!

Pumpkin Spice Scrub Nuggets

These creamy, sugar-studded little nuggets of pumpkin-spicy goodness are like a hybrid between a mini scrub bar and a bath melt. They self-emulsify with your bath or shower water on your skin as you use them, turning into a creamy, mouth-watering scrub that buffs away dead skin and leaves you hydrated and glowing. Then, when you’re done scrubbing, the sugar dissolves and you’re left with a bath that pretty much has a self-emulsifying pumpkin spice bath oil in it—all pumpkin spice, skin-softening goodness, but no oily tub. Score!

Ultra Rich Meadowfoam Body Cream

It’s officially that time of year again—the time of year when my skin practically screams for lotion after I climb out of a bath or shower. When I’m slathering it all over there never seems to be enough lotion in my (usually sizeable) stash, so I decided to be sort-of proactive and whip up a batch of something designed to hit cold-weather dryness right in the kisser. This cream has a larger oil part to really help lock in moisture and soften skin, featuring a lovely blend of oils and silky cetyl alcohol for a decadent, Ultra Rich Meadowfoam Body Cream that’ll leave just-shaved legs feeling all kinds of happy.

Pumpkin Spice Foaming Hand Wash

As I was making this I was definitely thinking “it’s far too early for anything pumpkin spiced, isn’t it?”, but a quick glance at the calendar (and the weather forecast) set me right. Canadian Thanksgiving is next weekend (!), Starbucks has had their infamous latte back on the menu for weeks, and we’ve got a winter storm warning for today. So… welcome, pumpkin spice season! This year I thought I’d continue to build my collection of pumpkin spiced recipes (check out my recipes for PSL lotion, whipped body butter, soap, lip gloss, and lip balm!) with a decadent Pumpkin Spice Foaming Hand Wash. Yum!
