Rose & Honey Rich Cream Cleanser

This Rose & Honey Rich Cream Cleanser is quite the treat—it’s rich and gentle, smells softly of roses, and leaves your skin feeling clean but not tight or dry. Made with sweet almond oil, fragrant rose hydrosol, and local raw honey, it has a positively decadent texture and is a delight to use. It’s also a rather neat look at how marketing can really narrow our perceptions of products; keep reading to learn how!

Super Simple Moisturizing Lotion

Today we’re going back to the basics with a Super Simple Moisturizing Lotion. I pared down the ingredients as much as I could, so this lotion just features five (5!) inexpensive ingredients that can be easily modified to suit what you have, or what you prefer. If you’ve never made lotion before, this is a fantastic place to start! In this post (and the partner video) I’ll be going over the essential components of lotions so you can easily and confidently make your own simple lotions at home. I’ll also be doing a follow-up live stream on this formulation this upcoming Sunday on YouTube where I’ll answer the questions I get + some of the more common DIY lotion questions I’ve heard over the years, so be sure to tune in for that as well!

Creamy French Green Clay Face Mask

Today we’re whipping up a simple, creamy, oil-based face mask. A soft balm base is loaded with silky French green clay (my favourite clay for face masks!) to create an ultra velvety skin treat. This format is far less messy than blending clay and water, both for application and rinse off, which I really appreciate. You can also use it in two different ways, depending on what you’re looking to get out of your face masking, making this DIY quite versatile as well!

Lavender Aloe Hydrating Facial Toner

‘Tis the season for heaps of hydration! This DIY was initially inspired by a popular lavender witch hazel toner product, but I decided to really amp up the hydrating/humectant-y goodness in the spirit of Asian-style hydrating toners (rather than Western astringent-y toners) and that amping has led us off into new territory. The final product is rich in humectants and skin-soothing goodies—perfect skincare things for ultra-dry January!

Rose Witch Hazel Facial Toner

This sweetly fragrant, refreshing facial toner has become a fast favourite of mine. It smells deliciously of roses, features several soothing and lightly hydrating ingredients, and leaves my skin feeling revived and gently cleansed. It’s also crazy easy to make (no heat required!) and uses just a handful of pretty simple ingredients. I think you’re going to love it, too!

Heavenly Cocoa Lotion

This divine, lightweight, Heavenly Cocoa Lotion went straight into my purse, and that is high praise. Jasper requested a “simple yet effective facial moisturiser. Something a little bit like the LUSH Celestial Moisturiser… I worked for the company a while back as a product trainer and it is their best selling moisturiser, so I feel a formulation based on this cream would be really useful for your subscribers too!” The original ingredient list had some really lovely things in it—almond oil, cocoa butter, and lots of vanilla—and we all know I’m a total sucker for cocoa and vanilla, so how could I resist?
