DIY Blurring Face Primer: 3 Ways

These formulations were inspired by the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Face Primer; a $52USD/oz. blurring facial primer that makes your skin look airbrushed. I’ll teach you how to make this primer for less than 1/5 the price, plus how to customize it into extra glowy and truly luxurious variations. Let’s dive in!

Transfer-Resistant Cream Foundation

The inspiration for this Transfer-Resistant Cream Foundation came from two places. Place #1 was my 2020 Second Skin Cream Foundation, which was inspired by RCMA’s cream foundations. I love this formulation and have been using it ever since. My love (and use) was intensified when I ordered my favourite magnetic palette and wanted to put all the things it it. I scraped my Second Skin Cream Foundation out of its little 5g pot and moved it to a standalone 36mm round pan and was off to the races! I now positively adore having as much of my makeup as possible in a magnetic palette, which is where piece of inspiration #2 comes into play.

Soothing Makeup Finishing Spray

Today I’m sharing something I’ve been loving lately—a Soothing Makeup Finishing Spray. You certainly don’t have to use it over makeup (it’s also a great soothing & hydrating mist for bare skin!), but I’ve been using this as the last step in my makeup routine (and sometimes throughout the day if it’s extra dry or hot!) and I love how it works. This spray leaves my skin dewy and eliminates that powdery, “hey, that’s makeup on your face” look that can sometimes happen. It’s mostly water, aloe vera juice, and hydrosol, but this mist also has a great supporting cast of moisturizing and soothing ingredients. Let’s dive in!

Liquid Blurring Skin Tint

If you’re questing for a sorta-foundation that offers some skin-perfecting goodness without a whole lot of coverage, this Liquid Blurring Skin Tint is for you! It lightly blurs imperfections and gently evens out skin tone, pairing beautifully with a bit of concealer for any areas that need a bit more coverage or colour correction. It applies easily with fingers or a damp sponge, leaving the skin looking like its best self. It’s also really easy to make, and you can easily customize it!

Second Skin Cream Foundation

This Second Skin Cream Foundation was borne of some very early morning I-can’t-sleep-any-more YouTube makeup tutorial watching. Being the sucker I am for all things Kate Winslet I clicked on a thumbnail for a tutorial titled “Trying to do my makeup like the movies… so you can’t see it” from RawBeautyKristi (the thumbnail featured a shot of Kate in The Holiday). I then proceeded to watch, mesmerized, at 5:30 am, as Kristi expertly transformed her face into seemingly makeup-free perfection. The product in the video that really caught my attention was the foundation she used—a cream product from RCMA. As Kristi worked her expertise application magic, exclaiming over how the product was ultra skin-like, I knew I needed to know more. To the Google!
