FORGOT TO SAY that when doing the substituting, you need to use 20% LESS carnauba wax to get the same hardness as the original formula containing beeswax. Plus, remember beeswax is quite sticky and soft, while carnauba wax is shiny and brittle, so if you put too much of either one in your formula, the end result will be very similar to the wax’s original “raw” texture. (Too much c-wax will turn your balm into a hard “plastic”!!! Ask me how many balms I’ve had to toss out?)
So if a formula calls for 1 gram of beeswax, you would use 0.8 gram of carnauba wax.
