No way. Its so crazy how media works and how addicted we are to shopping all those feel-good-feelings. 😛 Its the same with clothing; sneakers are made for €2 in China and after shipping and branding etc we pay €150 just to belong to the cool people. How crazy are we!?
Well not me, I make as much as I can myself and buy as much local, pure or second handed. I wish I had a bigger ‘green-community’ surrounding me to share it all with. And more time. Much more time. 😉
And yes, I let myself get fooled also. Make a pretty label and call it green and you’ve got me. 😛 I used to buy at The Body Shop and was tempted by Lush. The high prices (and the mindfucking branding) tends to make me feel it is good stuff. (It made me FEEL, not THINK, that is the issue with media/ PR, I believe. Ive just read that it is your primal brain that steers your desicions, and that this is emotional rather than rational.) So yeah, pay attention or get fooled. Read/ think/ learn, sigh, shake your head and put it back onto that shelf LOL. Well mostly unfortunally.
Last thing I bought at The Body Shop was a bottle of “solid argan oil”, the girl in the shop said it was just 100% argan oil with just a bit of preservative. Costed €19 for 125 ml, but on sale so i was ‘lucky. LOL…. Roling my eyes….
But it had 11 ingrediënts and arganoil was only third listed with the fifth being parfum, soooo…. could be 3% as well. 😉 I was rubbish too, dry and terrible chemcial smell. I sold it at our ‘craigslist’ and it it was my last buy of The Body Shop EVER.
Turning my rage into love… I loved their facepowder and it turned out to be just titanium, kaolin and oxides, so now i have Marie’s book (and almost all my ingredients) I can also start making my own make-up YAY!
And a friend of mine’s favourite serum from Clarin’s costed her 45€/ 30 ml, while now I make her a dupe for less than €10 with organic oils too! And she loves it. <3 I love being able to make it myself, get my friends better stuff and share my knowledge on this! And I love Marie for doing the same and also for creating this hyve/ community. 🙂 It means a lot to me to be able to take matters into my own hand.
