Has anybody else tried this super funky emulsifier? It’s a polymeric cold process emulsifier that works at ~1%, and does some super groovy things. I did a webinar on it this morning, and this was the basic recipe:

    1% aristoflex AVC
    8% oil
    Preservative as needed
    Water to 100%

The end result is a super thick, crazy lightweight gel/lotion thing!

Susan has more info here: http://swiftcraftymonkey.blogspot.ca/2016/02/emulsifiers-aristoflex-avc.html

I also did a really neat one with some goodies Penny sent me from China (I finally used that pine pollen, Penny—I think I’m sold!).

Oooh, nope, never used this before. But it looks awesome. I like the no heat aspect. That’s great for days when you want to make quick fun things, like perhaps an acne lotion or even a facial toner that doesn’t soak everything in sight!

I’ve seen “avc” on a bunch of shops. I always thought they were mistyping acv! You mean that’s actually a thing? So need to translate those pages and take a look see!

Isn’t that pine pollen fancy? What did you do with it?

Ok. So there seems to be a few different kinds of this avc. Is there another name for a specific type to look for? I want to make sure I have some in stock when you post about it!

I have the Aristoflex and make all my facial lotions with it now. I love the light, gel like texture! When I finally got around to using this emulsifier after buying it, I stopped using my oil serums on my face because l loved the lotions more!

The last recipe I made was this…

    87.5% water
    2% niacinamide
    4% n-acetyl glucosamine
    5% oils (argan and squalane)
    .5% liquid germall plus
    1% Aristoflex AVC

So awesome and light on my face. the niacinamide and NAG really help with the anti-aging/firming aspect my soon-to-be 52 year old skin really needs. Fine lines suck! Haha!

Pine pollen?? What is that supposed to do? Not that I’d use it however….my allergies would not be happy! Nope, not at all! Haha

I’m so having a moment, Twin. Light lotion for face. I bet you could make a light gel cleanser with that stuff. Lol

OMG! I think my head just did a little spinning dance! Wooooo! I may have to try this! Maybe with one of Marie’s emulsified cleanser recipes. Dang it! Now I really NEED some SCI or SLSA!!!
Although, I must say, me and my face are really enjoying the cleansing balms A LOT!! I may never go back to soap for cleaning my face again.

I’m looking at the AVC and trying to find some SCI/SLSA too. But, I’ve come across some amino acids. Do I want them?

And I am watching BBC’s, “Spy in the Wild”. These orangatans are using soap! Just like we do! It’s wild! And now they are eating it. Strangely, they seem to like the taste.

I have an apple amino acid surfactant I made a shampoo with once or twice. It wasn’t too bad. What is the INCI on the amino acid you’re looking at Barb?

The inci wasn’t included. So didn’t end up picking it up. Some shops are selling “apple bubbles”. I wonder if this is the same thing!

I bet it is! I thought it was a nice gentle surfactant, hair wise.

Ooh I saw a thing on apple surfactant on a site, can’t remember which one. Maybe that could work. Now I’m wanting more toys. You realize you’re spending my tax return already before it arrives? Lmao
