Barb and I were talked about combining the Creamy Clay Cleansing Balm and the Orange Wax Cleansing Balm on another topic a week or so ago and I finally got around to tinkering with the recipe. Here’s what I ended up with….
18 g ewax
4 g candelilla wax
10 g Babassu oil
15 g castor oil
15 g grapeseed oil
5 g orange wax
7 Tbsp kaolin clay
The color, I admit, is sort of like baby poop, but I just washed my face with it and it feels SO creamy and YUM!!! I love this Cleansing Balm combination!March 23, 2017 at 7:53 am #21234
It looks decadent! I think I am allergic to the orange wax..or the black soap..My face has broken out in hives after using it last week. Its the only change I made so I need to sort out which one. Ugh….itchy yucky skin…and I think its the orange wax which is a shame. I love the smell and I bought a litre of it :P. Do you think it could be a photosensitivity from the citrus? I think I am going to try this recipe and see in a week or two….Thanks for sharing it Belinda!March 23, 2017 at 8:17 am #21236
Maybe it’s the acidic nature of the orange wax?? That would be my first guess. Try a very small amount of the orange wax mixed in a bit of oil to dilute it, and so you don’t waste all your ingredients making a whole Balm, and rub on one small spot on your face just to test your reaction. Same with the black soap on a different spot on your face. I do this all the time to test out ingredients. Or, you know, just rub all over my body, then find out I’m allergic when my throat starts tightening up……same diff……😂😂😂 The orange wax can be a bit irritating to my face some days, so my guess is the acidity. That’s why I lowered the amount in this Balm. I get the yummy smell but it’s far less irritating in smaller amounts. I have no experience with black soap. I would look at the ingredients in that too, to see if there are any potential irritants. But, if your skin is anything like mine, there is no rhyme or reason. It’s just picky about some things!
I AM getting better at not being so reckless with new ingredients. I made a bunch of tester lotions this past week, testing out the orange blossom water, the rose water, and the Jasmine and rose floral waxes. I’ve tried them just on my hands, then on an arm, then on my torso and no reactions so far on all of them! And, may I say, the orange and rose waters smell SOOOOOO GOOD!!! I am in love!!! I will definitely be buying more of those babies!!March 23, 2017 at 5:38 pm #21246
mmm good idea. I’m hoping to have time to play with a few ingredients this weekend. I ran out of my serums and still haven’t made any more hairstuffs. Got the ceilings painted so I earned myself a little break :). I will try the orange in a smallplace then and see. Rose and orange waters are in the mail, so you have me excited for them to arrive 😀March 23, 2017 at 9:41 pm #21250
You and your ba-ba-su!
Awesome! I’ll be making this next week!March 24, 2017 at 6:43 am #21254
Babassu….sounds like babaloo! The pronunciation of Babassu is just fun! And Babassu is DA BOMB! It’s become a staple in my skin care ingredient stash. Next, I want to try murumuru butter when I run out of one of my other butters. Or I order again from NDA, whichever comes first! Haha!
Marie is cracking me up with her struggle of right and wrong pronunciations of ingredients. I’m so like her. I get the right one in my head mixed up with the wrong one (wrong usually being mine) and then I’m confused all over again. I’m over it! I’ll say those darn pronunciations the way I want to and you can laugh all you want at me Barb!!😂😂😂
Connie, you will love the orange and rose waters! I know I’ll be buying more when the bottles I have are empty. They add such nice fragrance all on their own, so I don’t need to add any more to the mix if I don’t want to.March 25, 2017 at 4:10 pm #21275
You will never guess what I found from my new favourite online supplier.
Guess.March 26, 2017 at 10:45 am #21311
hahaha……rose hydrosol? ultragel20?March 26, 2017 at 2:24 pm #21315
Abyssinian oil? SLSA? BABA-SUUU? Sepimax Zen? I know you found SCI, so it can’t be that. Balsam Fir fragrance oil?
Geez, Barb! It could be anything!! We talk about so much stuff it’s really hard to tell. You’re really shortening my “to send Barb” list since you keep finding all the stuff I plan to send you!!March 26, 2017 at 3:55 pm #21321
Barb finds all the cool stuff. Lmao. It’s the she has a person. We need people.
I need to try babassu oil. I’ve been playing with raspberry seed oil. I like the texture and the feel. I was hoping for raspberry scent, but no. *sob* Sea buckthorn oil. Orange, egads, the orange, but if I use a tiny bit, it blends in and I don’t have a fake and bake look. Amazing. 😂
I need to make some goodies for my sister in NC. My niece is 6 going on 20 and driving her insane. So it’s time for mom and daughter kits. I’ll be the awesome auntie for another year. Go me!March 26, 2017 at 4:46 pm #21323
Bang on the money! Abyssinian Oil!!!!
Cyn, I don’t have a person. I have multiple dealers!
She, I think I have had ultragel since the whole avc was introduced. So it’s good!
Belinda, I’ll still take that fragrance Oil!!!March 26, 2017 at 8:59 pm #21327
AWESOME!!! You will love it! Or hate it….our skin likes/dislikes seem to be polar opposites! Haha! I love that stuff! So silky feeling!
Yes, Barb has PEOPLE! Rub it in! Twin, did you know she has fresh milk delivered to her by a PERSON?? To her door?!?! We really need to get us some people….we are so deprived.
Will be ordering the fragrance oil tomorrow, Barb. Do you still want SLSA too? And chocolate mint lip flavor? Ah, ordering online….my old friend, I’ve missed you!!😂😂March 27, 2017 at 8:03 pm #21351
Lmao, Barb gave you a reason to order. I love it!
We need people. How the heck do I get milk delivered? My gramps isn’t alive and he doesn’t do that job anymore. I’m feeling deprived. 😲😱March 28, 2017 at 1:57 pm #21382
Twin, you know it’s always good to have an excuse, um, I mean reason, to order. I NEED it is just not a logical reason. I’m ordering stuff for a friend (with some stuff for myself thrown in) is a much better reason! Haha😂😂😂 Ah! Delusions! Delusions!March 28, 2017 at 7:46 pm #21390
Buying for others is always reason to add extra. I bought some essential oils for me, bought some for my sister. See….justification for making sure my buying my two particular oils were supported. Lol
