    Pssst! Chai Lattee Coffee Soap!

I use any soap recipe, add in 1tsp of each per 500g of oil, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, ginger. 1tbsp finely ground unused coffee grounds.

I usually take some beakers and add 20g of kaolin clay per beaker, add the spice, add 10g of the spice essential oil and then 50g of a liquid oil from the recipe. Stir, cover and let stand overnight. I find doing this helps the scent hold better and is more potent in the long run. My soaps I have from two years ago, still smell yummy!

    I so love making soap.

I wonder why presoaked the scents would hold them longer. I was thinking there had to be a way to increase the fragrance of my soaps, it seems to burn off quickly.

I saw somewhere that putting your essentials oils in kaolin clay, then pouring into soap batter anchors the scent better. I’ve not seen anyone who lets it sit overnight. Good idea! I want to try this now!!

I used to “anchor” my essential oils in castor oil, but found mixing with the clay and say rice bran or olive oil worked better in the long run. BUT then I discovered, weighing them with their actual thingie worked better. Like, using powdered orange zest+clay+orange essential oil+oil+overnight= scent kicks around for a long long long time.
