ParticipantI have 5 bottles of ACV you can have. The good unfiltered stuff. But I’m cranky. My hair said, “Straw now!” It wasn’t pretty. Lol

ParticipantI have decided I might go Aphogee since I like it, though the price can be tough. Thanks be to Sally’s discount.

ParticipantSure! Pop round Belinda! Just finished baking some sourdough bread, so the house smells fantastic. And there is the key lime cheesecake I made last night. Nom nom nom!
Cyn, I’ll trade you cheesecake for your acv.

ParticipantSure. Or good sources for oils, since I see this hobby getting serious. There are soaps, masks, facial serums, and body butters to be made!

ParticipantSo the silk that just arrived would work for helping my hair, right? So pretty….silk…
February 7, 2017 at 8:50 pm #19906BelindaSK
ParticipantNo, Twin, that silk is only for CP lye water. I think you need silk amino acids for shampoos and conditioners. Or hydrolyzed (spelling??) silk protein, which is yum but cha-chinggggg!
Also, make sure Aphogee has no silicones if you really want to go CG.
Barb, freshed baked bread and key lime cheesecake?? I’m soooo there!! Yummy! I’ll grab Cyn and be right over! *sigh* I so wish we really could do that!!

ParticipantOoh. I have silk protein for hair stuff. So now I have silk for cp soap. *bounces* I’m so excited! Soap soap!
But cheesecake. We need a private plane. Let’s go.

ParticipantMy husband has talked on multiple occasions about getting his pilot’s license and buying a plane, or a share of a plane. *snort* *like that’s ever going to happen!* Not that a tiny plane could make an overseas flight anyway….
I have a friend who’s a FedEx pilot and he’s always flying on routes to Asia. Maybe Twin and I can jump seat!!

ParticipantWe can be packages for delivery! Most excellent idea, Twin! Then we can figure out how to know people.

ParticipantI just read about this hair treatment http://www.naturalbeautyworkshop.com/my_weblog/2012/09/diy-hair-mayo.html . I tried, my hair was limp and dirty looking after 12 hours :(. That said,I have new stuff to play with today and My Make IT UP book just arrived:) I tried work for two days and am once again relegated to the couch for a few days so that’s good timing.

ParticipantI’m so sorry you are still sick with pneumonia! It took my daughter 3 weeks to recover and she’s 11 and usually bounces back quickly from any illness she has. Sending you some healing thoughts!! But yes, that is very good timing for you in regards to your new goodies!! Woo hoo! Marie’s book is really awesome!
OK! On to this hair mask thingie you did….I see those homemade hair treatments all the time involving eggs. The protein in eggs to too large to penetrate your hair, from what I’ve read, but some people swear by them. Unflavored gelatin is better, protein molecules are smaller and can get into your hair. I know some people love putting ACV and lemon juice on their hair, but I know lemon juice is acidic and a hair clarifier, so right there that says to me “stripping of moisture”. And my hair hates ACV, which is also acidic. Since your hair is low porosity, I’m betting the acidic lemon juice and vinegar opened up your hair cuticles, allowed all that oil in (which looked like a lot in the recipe to me) causing oil overload, then….ok, what did you do after this treatment? Because if you do a protein treatment, you are then supposed to do a deep conditioning treatment to shut the hair cuticles back down, bringing your hair back to the proper pH. Not that I’m telling you that you have to, but for it to be of the best benefit to your hair, you should do both. Your poor hair! It’s probably really mad at you right now! Did it also feel tangly and rough? I’ve heard that is what happens when your cuticles get opened like that.
Twin, dollar store shopping? Are you looking for soaping supplies??😋
February 9, 2017 at 5:31 pm #20030Cynnara
ParticipantYup. I’ve put it off long enough. Well, realized I didn’t have big enough containers for soap mixing and lye water. Lmao. Plus I decided I’m getting extra silicon spatulas for soaping. Set for soaping, set for makeup, etc.
