I keep telling you, we need the Avon mini lipstick molds. If only we could get a hold of them. It would be interesting.

I wonder if one of the ingredients in it causes hardening like we would get accelerated trace in soap? Since it might fall under IFRA, they might not list all the ingredients. Grrrr.

They both look beautiful, C. If you want depth, add a pinch of either black oxide or even blue ultramarine. Personally, I think both are beautiful. You know, you could add a touch of the red oxide blue to see what happens. It might deepen with the hint of true blue you’re looking for.

C, the colours are gorgeous! I will make it.

Cyn, I will try making them when I have time.

The ingredients for the flavours aren’t listed, so I don’t know. I will try it again with a lipstick I’ve already made, to see if it will still be just as matte (the other was more sheer and more of a creamy finish, not as long lasting)

Joy, my thing is, as long as it isn’t super tacky and doesn’t make me lick my lips every ten seconds, I don’t mind reapplying every so often. 😁

Good to know! But I like matte lipsticks that stay on. If it still works, then I don’t mind the hardening. Otherwise, I will use the flavours for body lotion instead.

So I tried the lipstick again, now that it’s been a few days, and it has become matte. With 2 layers, it’s pretty much opaque, with one it’s a bit sheer. I really like the colour, and I think you will too, Cyn. (It’s the one with manganese violet)

Thanks! It was fun to make and exciting to see the end result. Joyful, how much pigment do you recommend for more of an opacity? I’m sure it differs from shade to shade, but on average? I think Marie says 7/16 teaspoon per lipstick which I believe includes the Titanium Dioxide.
    So much fun!!

Sure, everybody creates but me! Waah! Lol. Awesome Joy, I’ll play with it on Sunday. I’ve decided I hate doctors. Blech

Almost all of my recipes have more pigment than the 7/16 tsp Marie recommends. I think it’s because I often use 1/4 tsp titanium dioxide to make it completely opaque, but then I need to compensate the whiteness with pigment. I usually use between 7/16 – 12/16 tsp. If I have enough titanium dioxide, it will always be opaque (in the more purpley sheer colour, I only used 1/8tsp), but too light colours don’t look great on me, so I need to put more colours to compensate. I made the Frosted Raspberry from Marie’s book, and it was still matte and opaque using that amount, but it’s a lighter colour (and to me does not look raspberry at all, but peach).

    “Frosted Raspberry”

I also made her Elle Woods, but for some reason it was an extremely light nude colour. I added a lot of carmine afterwards, and now it’s a lovely neutral pink

Elle Woods + lots of carmine added

Joyful, thanks for sharing those colors. The raspberry is pretty. I can see the peach undertone to it…were you able to determine the cause for that? Here is my Frosted Raspberry…

I have not tried the Elle Woods yet. The pink looks great!

Joyful, love the violet lip paint color! Nice job! Do you think those measurements would work with the long wear lipstick base?
