ParticipantMy hair starts rolling up into “sausage curls” if I leave it alone (no shuffling my scalp to fluff). It looks funny to me when it does that. I call them my “twizzlers”, because they’re skinny and ropey like a stick of Twizzler candy.

ParticipantI’m going to turn into a girly girl. *sobs* All in the name of healthy hair. Someone save me. I’ll have a *gasp* beauty routine.

ParticipantI know! I was never that girl, at least, not with my hair. Nope. Pretty much not with anything. I was too busy trying to keep my skin cleared up to fuss with makeup and hair. Now look at me! Doing my hair, making makeup I HAVE to use, good grief! What have I become?!?! WHAT?!?!!

ParticipantI giggle every time I come on here and look for “lotions’ to see what you have posted about your hair adventures. Think its misnamed a little? lol. My husband laughed at me yesterday and told me I was turning into a girlie girl after 40 years. What happened? It’s self care I say 🙂 You’re just playin’ is the response. He’s right. I did none of this as a teenager or young adult, so what happened? So fun to find people to play with 🙂

ParticipantConnie, I was thinking the same thing the other day. We really digressed from the lotion topic, didn’t we?? Haha
My husband doesn’t complain about me becoming a girly girl, but gets sick of the topic of hair, hair, hair sometimes. I knew he was actually listening and learning though, when we went out to dinner one night. We ended up sitting in the bar area and there were a lot of single ladies sitting around the bar. His comment was “Look at their hair. Every woman over there has horribly dry, frizzy hair! It looks so unhealthy”. I felt like Yoda or something! My work here is done😊
Maybe we should start a Curly Girl thread….

ParticipantY fiancé did me proud. Woman was holding a small container of margarine and asked if it was butter. He was like, no. Then quoted me, word for word on the health benefits of real butter and why unsalted versus salted. I was so proud.
We even showed her the best of sticks and spread butter, so she can be economical. I’m just proud. 😁

ParticipantIt’s nice to know that they listen, even when they act like they don’t hear us! haha

ParticipantSo I have devoured the curly girl website and watched videos etc and now I want to make stuff! lol….I have low porosity, 2b/2c hair, its loose curls but more than an s wave, med density, Basically any product weights it down and it curls initial and then falls into a loose frizzy wave 😛 . I’m starting with an argan oil/essential oil combo which I want to dilute, but that means I need something to make them mix….hmmmmm….this is fun if it works……

ParticipantMy hair gets weighed down very easily too. That’s why any product I use, I try tiny pea sized amounts until I know how much my hair can handle. I’ve gotten carried away a few times and had to rewash my hair and start over😝 My hair usually curls nicely when it’s wet but then relaxes into waves. To try to help keep the curl in as best as possible, I use a strong hold gel, diffuse until “crunchy”, then let air dry. No touching or scrunching out the crunch until it is dry. If it’s the least bit damp when I scrunch out the crunch, it will fall flat.
Check out this blogspot. Science-yhairblog.blogspot.com has lots of DIY recipes. The blogger pedaheh has wavy hair too and started the wavy library. Her blogspot is pedaheh.blogspot.com . She has lots of info on wavy hair and the link to the science-yhairblog. More info on hair! Woo hoo!! I’ve made the flax seed gel several times. Flax seed gel is thin and snotty feeling, but a great wave/curl enhancer. You can use a lot without it weighing down your hair.
A good YouTuber to watch is The Polished Curl. She has wavy hair and does a lot of styling and technique videos. She also tells you about a lot of different products that work for her hair and how she uses them.

ParticipantHmmm, polysorbates help bind essential oils with water. You should be able to mix EOs with carriers no problem.
Must read blog…..more read stuff. Lol

ParticipantSign up on http://www.naturallycurly.com for their emails. They’re having a give away every day this month from various sponsors. There’s some pretty good products being given away! Not that I’ve ever won any of them, but I keep trying, wishing, hoping…..
