What are your favourite serums? Do you prefer them in the morning or the evening? When it comes serums, what are your preferred oils?

The serum I use off and on is argan oil with about 4-5 drops of sea buckthorn oil. Then I add 2 drops each helichrysum and carrot seed eos. One drop each of roman chamomile and blue chamomile. I think my serum bottle is 1/2 oz. These essential oils work really well with my skin.

Argan isn’t too heavy? I’m worried me and my combo face will oil up. Lol

It’s kind of heavy, but it does eventually sink in some. I’ve been making some facial lotions with the argan and squalane. Those are very nice and light. Perfect for my grease pit of a face! Haha

Hmmm, that might help. What about evening primrose?

My skin breaks out with that. I can’t take the supplement either. Makes me a little cray cray.

I take a boat load of skin happy oils, gently warm it up (moringa in the cold is a pain in the tuchus), heat up some aloe water and mix in some extracts. Depending on the strength of solution (anywhere from 20-80%), combine with some polysorbate20, shake shake shake and there is my serum.

I find the water based Serum absorbs better and is more effective on my fine lines. I live in a heavily polluted country so keeping my skin happy could almost be a full time job.

Usually, the oils are: (in no order) argan, moringa, sea buckthorn, evening primrose, rosehip, the kitchen sink. My rationality of all these oils, was to make a highly potent and healingesque serum by removing the carrier oil and using a liquid, this Serum sinks in wickedly fast and I don’t always need my lotion on top of it. I use this twice a day.

This is also the serum I want to try to add caffeine to.

Barb, I want to try that!! That’s why I’m liking the lotion vs the serum right now. You get that bit of water for hydration. The serum works fine when it’s humid here, but winter my face was still getting dry and flaky. So, I switched to making a face lotion. I got a new emulsifier, Aristoflex something, and you can make emulsions cold with it. Just put the ingredients in your container, blend with stick blender, and voila! A light lotion that feels sort of gel like. When I spread it on my face it also feels like I’m spreading water on my face. It’s really kind of weird feeling, but I like it.

I never thought to make a serum with water and emulsifier. I need to try that! *squeals and does the happy dance*

New stuff! I’m the light on the face person. So definitely aloe with the eos and the specialty oils.

In summer it’s Argan + Pomegranate oil and in winter it’s Argan + EP oil. Of course, with the new face lotion, I really only use serums at night now, whereas I used to use them both morning and night. I also love a drop of lavender and geranium in my serums, or a drop of lavender and bergamot (or lavender and cedar). Really, lavender goes great with almost anything (but I rarely use it solo, much too pungent).

I am wanting to try Pomegranate oil. Need to get rid of some other bottles of oil first😜

Pomegranate oil. Hmmm. This could be interesting.

Belinda, soap. Use them in soap. Or lotion bars for others. Could work. Then you’d free up some room. 😁

I know! I was thinking the same thing, Twin. I can make a bunch of soap, oils are used up, then I can buy more!
