ParticipantI have a friend who I started on Curly Girl method and she does the same thing. Gets in the shower and forgets to co-wash. My co-wash and shampoo sit side by side in the shower, so I have them both available. I get my hair wet, “how does it feel?”, a little gummy-shampoo, if not-cowash.

ParticipantLmao. I did that yesterday. Today, I just styled. Tomorrow will be cowash, the first time. *crosses fingers* Then we’ll see how it goes.

ParticipantTomorrow for me is shampoo and haircut! I can’t remember the last time I had it trimmed and it looks stringy on the ends to me. This is why I get frustrated with fine hair. I so envy those with big beautiful heads of curls!!

ParticipantI have been playing around with this for a week now and discovered that my hair hates product. It looks so much nicer if I don’t put anything in it, but it dumps the curl. My hair is low porosity and super shiny/healthy so it looks coated. I don’t need the conditioner either, it just makes it limp. Back to the drawing board for me :P. or the curly girl board, as the case may be. No point in duping something until I figure out what works

ParticipantYep! Try doing a search for others who have low porosity wavy hair and see what products and techniques they use. It can be tricky. I was thinking my hair was low porosity for a while, so I was researching stuff for it but figured out I am actually the opposite. It’s really hard for stuff to penetrate low porosity hair, I do remember that!
Shea Moisture came out with two new lines last year, one for low porosity and one for high porosity. You might try looking for the low porosity line where you live. I’ve seen them at Target, but I don’t know if Canada has Target. But drug stores and stores like Walmart/Target carry some of their lines here. I think Sally’s Beauty does too. I don’t know if that exact store is in Canada, but I would think there’d be stores like it. I saw some stuff on the science-y hair blog to pertaining to low porosity wavy hair. She has good info on her site so you might want to check that out first and see if it helps point you in the right direction.

ParticipantLook at her beautiful wavy hair! I so wish my hair looked like that!!

ParticipantBahumbug. My hair will never look like that. Even with obscene amounts of product.

ParticipantNeither will mine, not without hair extensions!! Or a wig!☹️

ParticipantYup. A wig would be the only way I’d ever get anything going on with my hair. A friend of mine says my hair is like Jennifer Garners. But straighter. I just want pretty bouncy hair!

ParticipantI thought Jennifer Garner’s hair WAS straight?? Yours must be stick straight. I had a friend with hair like that. No matter what she did to it, the curl fell out and it was stick straight again within an hour, maybe two.
Mine was always the opposite. I’d curl it with hot rollers (gotta love the 80’s!!!), then have to smash it down with a damp towel or something so it wasn’t quite so big. That’s why I can’t style my hair. If I tried using curling irons, they somehow either straightened what I wanted curled, or crinkled my hair funny. Hot rollers made my hair ungodly big and shorter. It would literally roll right up to my ears and I’d look like I cut my hair off. The only way I could get it out was to wash it again. I remember my roommate got some of those skinny rod-type rollers (maybe hot rollers, I can’t remember) and I rolled my hair up in those once. All I can say is OMG!! I never did that again! I BRUSHED it (big mistake) and I looked like Rosanna Rosannadanna from SNL. I am so not kidding!

ParticipantOkay, this is my hair end of the day, cowash only. It ended up looking great all day until the very end. Got a lot of compliments.

ParticipantHere’s another view.

ParticipantTwin, your hair and makeup both look smashing! Your hair looks very soft and I can tell it’s going to get curlier with time. Keep giving those curls moisture! My curls can get limp (or gone) by the end of the day in the parts of my hair that are more wavy than curly. I have a section in the back left that is 2B. It’s usually straight by the end of the night, especially in low dew points. The hair around my face, my tiny bit of 3A, stays curly all day and all night and still looks great the next day. On each side of the 3A is my 2C pattern and it stays wavy curly as well. But it took time for that to all come about.
Your makeup looks great! I really like how Marie’s makeup stays on all day too. My other makeup just sort of gave up and wore off by the end of the day.

ParticipantIt’s the poof and then it’s gone makeup? Yeah. That’s why eyeliner. Sigh. I need to figure out eyeliner.
The hair seemed to do okay today. I’ll need to deep clean, and deep condition my hair. It’s been months since my last treatment. Sad, I know. I really was that carefree girl. Really. Wash and wear.
Bad Influence. Lol
