This aired on CBC here in Canada last week, and I found it really interesting! They chat with somebody who hasn’t used soap in years, a dermatologist, and somebody from the soap/beauty industry.

I was glad to hear the dermatologist explain how most “soaps” are actually detergents and try to distinguish the two.

    Anywho, it’s a good listen!

😀 Love to find another CBC thecurrent listener, lol. That was interesting and had drawn out conversation with my kids (tweenies) about how often to shower and clean ourselves. It does raise a question about all the highly scented washes and soaps that are marketed too. I have to say, my kids get dirty and stinky (YAY for puberty) and soap and showers are a necessity in this house 😀

I will have to listen to that. Sounds interesting!

I haven’t listened to the link yet, and if I’m repeating what’s in the story that’s posted above with my story below, I apologize in advance.

My oldest step-son doesn’t wash with soap or shampoo at all, just water. I don’t think he wears deodorant very often either. Which sounds gross, but he doesn’t smell, and believe me, my nose is very sensitive to smells! There’s some movement, trend, whatever you want to call it, with some folks who give up all bathing/cleansing products and just use water to bathe and wash their hair. It’s interesting to read about, but I love my homemade soap and I’m not giving it up! It would seriously ruin my crafting hobby just to bathe with water and that’s it. Nope, sorry! Not doing it!
