I have a “what not to do” which is this:

DON’T try to move unstable liquid concoctions around your house as you look for the best place to set it to dry. You will probably drop it and have to figure out how to clean it out of your rug.

Also, don’t increase the beeswax amount of an already-fairly-hard product unless you decrease the amount of another hard ingredient, like another wax or (if it’s melting that’s the concern) cocoa butter.

Anybody else have a “Don’t do this” advice? Could be related to ingredients, mixtures, etc.!

Don’t wear short sleeves when soaping! That’s the day you’ll splash hot oils on your arm! OUCH!!

What ever you do, do not answer the phone to your neice and nephew when you are making soap. And if you do answer the phone, don’t turn on the camera. And if you do turn on the camera, don’t let them choose how much mica to add to your soap. And if you do let them choose how much mica to add to your soap…. be sure your bags are empty enough to bring them the 2kg slab.

    Omg, sounds dangerous.

My advice- when you gate out the dog from the kitchen, put up a reminder so you don’t kill yourself as you go to rescue the laundry and almost do a header over said gate.

And don’t put your printed recipe between the two sinks. It’ll get wet and unreadable. Promise.

So laughing right now! Y’all are cracking me up!

Sarah’s scrubbing black mascara out of carpets, while Barb has two children dancing around and flinging micas into the air, and Cyn just did a flip over a baby gate! We are one wild and crazy bunch!😂😂😂

Yeah, well. The dog sat there then licked my face. Silly dog. Not my fault.

I’ve tripped over a baby gate a time or two……no one came to lick my face *sniff sniff*

Heh. I think Shango was concerned he couldn’t get past me to get into the kitchen to search for food. I have no delusions about my four footed shadow.

Another “What NOT to do” is don’t leave your boiled water sitting out uncovered for a lotion recipe for a long time — because you’ll definitely evaporate off enough that your allantoin starts to precipitate out and make your lotion gritty!

Yuck! Gritty lotion is the pits!

Definitely don’t get distracted by someone while reaching for your melted lipstick base. It spilled all over my shirt and will not wash out, even with hot water. I guess it really is long-wearing 😂

Oh no Joyful! That sounds like something I would do! I am such a klutz!

Note to self: Don’t get distracted making lipstick…….and wear plastic apron! haha!

Best advice to anyone and everyone. Wear an apron. And get into the habit of wearing one. I had to retire half my home clothes early fall 2015 from various DIY issues. Now, I always wear an apron and I can’t imagine creating withnout one!

I really just love all the pockets!

Yes, I always put one on now too, after ruining some clothes. But I don’t have a plastic apron. I may have to invest in one!
