Windy, that’s lovely! I have a colour like that next on my list. I’d still take the approach of carmine with a tiny bit of yellow and then some mica. Let us know how it goes!

Belinda, I’ve been pondering your oil on the scalp suggestion. Since mine is dry and dehydrated, I think it needs water too, so I’m thinking I need more of a lotion, which is like a light leave-in conditioner, I suppose. I only wash my baby fine hair once/week, so I need to come up with something really light that won’t add greasiness.

Windy, I don’t see a pic. Maybe try again? I took a quick peek online for the colour. Do you have some of the Nars blush? It’s really hard to match colours online.

    Hi Windy,

I’d start with some carmine and then add a touch of yellow and a bit of mica. From there just tweak until you like it! Do you have the original Nara product to compare it to?

I’m so glad I stumbled on this thread! My family has been having problems with dry, flaky scalps and I just couldn’t figure out what to do. Exfoliate, duh! Because it’s dry, flaky skin. I tried a sugar:oatmeal:shampoo scrub yesterday and it made a huge difference.

    Thanks ladies!

Joyful, your lip paint colour is beautiful! I just whipped up some cream blush and made a plummy colour that I love. I called it Plum Pudding! I’ll figure out how to post a pic. In the meantime, to the cream base I added:

    1/32 tsp titanium dioxide
    1/32 tsp carmine
1/64 tsp red oxide, blue shade

Ok, I made a second batch of mascara and it’s working much better! I changed more than one thing, in a totally non-scientific approach, so I don’t know which change fixed the flaking. Or maybe it all did?

This time I used BTMS-50 as the emulsifier and sifted the clay, which reduced the quantity I used by quite a bit! 1 tsp of clay insifted was 1g and sifted it was 0.6g!

I still get a bit of smudging under the eye, but I’ve had it on for 7 hrs today with only one little clean-up.

    Thanks for the ideas, Marie!

    Hey Marie,

I used Vegetable Emulsifying Wax (cetearyl alcohol and Polysorbate 60) and Liquid Germall Plus. I didn’t sift the clay but will give that a try! Thanks!

    Hi Penny!

1&2) My scale does measure to 0.01g so that should be good (user error notwithstanding!)

    3) I live in Calgary like Marie. It’s hideously dry, but since she’s here too I would assume we’re working with the same lack of humidity.

    4) I’ll give it another go! Adding a bit of oil sounds like a good next step.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

Thanks for the response, Penny! Sadly, it has always happened for me. I saw the other thread about the container, so I knew to put it in something that seemed well-sealed.
