This month(ish), I’ll be giving away some of my homemade soap to some lucky commenter! For every comment, you get an entry; one entry per article, though feel free to comment multiple times on a single entry. Winners will be selected on November 1, 2011.

As of now, prizes can only be mailed within Canada due to a 20x price increase in postage when the border is involved.

Hey,
So I’m not writing this to enter your draw or anything, but I had to share this story.
Kathryn (former piano teacher/boss) is super into natural soap, and stuff so I thought I would share some of the soap you gave me with her. She’s always wanted to make her own soap but hasn’t had the time.
Anyways, I had the soap in a bag for transportation. I pulled it out of my bag and said I had a gift for her. She sees it, her face lights up, and I go “Marie says you have to make sure it can drain or the bars can fall apart; which makes using soap kind of difficult.” Then she starts laughing and goes “I’m so glad you told me that! I thought it was fudge and that would not have been a pleasent surprise to discover.”
(She went on to say she was still happy etc.) I thought it was funny.
Your blog is very informative and I am grateful to have discovered it. It’s almost 4am here and I cannot sleep since I discovered (at midnight) that almost all the soaps and baby washes & baby wipes in our home (and are available) contain coconut oil (disguised in scientific terminology.) My 3yo son has been clawing away at his skin since he was months old. He is severely allergic to coconut & avocado (along with egg, berries, nuts, etc…) No wonder he is a mess and always itching! He scratches till he bleeds, leaving blood stains for me to wash on the linens. It makes me cry. I would love to buy some of your soaps that do not contain coconut, avocado or berry juice. Olive oil and lye is ideal. How can I purchase from you?
Sincerely,
Jennifer from Michigan

Hi Jennifer! I’m thrilled you found my little corner of the internet 🙂 I’m so sorry to hear about your little dude’s skin problems 🙁 Owwwie. Unfortunately, I don’t sell anything I make, so I can’t help you there. I’d check Etsy, there are lots of DIY soapers there 🙂
