I have a tea problem, I know. And now that DAVIDsTEA has opened a location mere blocks from where I live, the problem will likely grow. I’m ok with that. Anyhow, these are the five teas I’m currently obsessed with. They’re lovely, and they’d make great Christmas gifts, especially with the adorable new coloured tea tins David has now!

Chai Guarana by David’s Tea

I bought this tea online, scent un-smelled, after falling in love with Teaopia’s Mate Chai (which they promptly discontinued after being bought out). David’s Chai Guarana did not disappoint. Heavy on the cinnamon, this black/mate blend is laced with guarana seeds, and it’s wonderful. Especially with milk.

David’s Organic Breakfast by David’s Tea

After cavorting about the United Kingdom I fell in love with Breakfast tea all over again. Beautiful, slightly bitter breakfast tea, with a generous amount of milk (I have been informed this is exceptionally Scottish of me, which is fitting seeing as I am mostly Scottish). This blend is worthy of my love. Beautifully black, slightly bitter, and entirely wonderful. Breakfast tea is the only one I keep coming back to year after year, and this blend will be the one I’ll choose every time.

Big Apple by David’s Tea

Like apple cider with an underbelly of leafy green wonder. I love it as an afternoon pick-up after I’ve maxed out on milky black tea. It’s especially good with a delicious baked good brought in by a coworker.

Red Velvet Cake by David’s Tea

This is the sequel to my love of Hot Buttered Rum (which is also wonderful, by the way). It smells wonderfully of cocoa butter (USA / Canada) and vanilla, and is amazing with milk. Sweet, creamy, and like dessert, but it’s totally acceptable to have fourths.

Cream of Earl Grey by David’s Tea and Market Spice at Pike Place Market

I’ve loved Earl Grey with added vanilla ever since my friend Meredith introduced me to its creamy, wonderful embrace back in 2008. And I’ve tried many versions of this delightful flavour combination since, and I’ve found two that I really like. David’s Tea does a beautiful Organic Cream of Earl Grey; it’s soft, richly flavoured, and has been a staple in my tea pantry for as long as I’ve had a tea pantry. Market Spice’s blend is somehow sharper, and perhaps brighter. Equally wonderful, just slightly different. I love them both.
