Sweetgrass Hand Lotion

Today we’re whipping up a softly scented Sweetgrass Hand Lotion as a continuation of our sweetgrass series. In keeping with the theme, this creamy lotion is entirely scented by stunning sweetgrass hydrosol, which reminds me of sunshine on dry prairie grass and honey, with notes of cinnamon and apples. This sweet, warm aroma lingers briefly before fading, making this Sweetgrass Hand Lotion a great choice for low-scent environments like offices, as well as those who prefer gently scented products. It’s also lightweight and fast-absorbing, with some great skin goodies focussed on hydrating and moisturizing the skin, and I think you’re going to love it!

10 Recipes to Make with Cetyl Alcohol

If you’re on the fence about investing in some cetyl alcohol I’m hoping this post can help convince you to pick up a couple ounces of the stuff. I first started working with cetyl alcohol in early 2017 and it has quickly become something I’ll never want to be without. It’s inexpensive (a kilo/roughly 2lbs is typically in the $11–13 range), has a long shelf life, and is insanely versatile. I use it in everything from lotions to balms to shampoo bars, and it tends to make everything better!

Pemberley Conditioning Body Butter

Brace yourself for this Pemberley Conditioning Body Butter, as it is divine. This is a continuation of the Pemberley series I kicked off in February with my Pemberley Hand Lotion, featuring the same stunning scent blend and general theme of luxury. As I was trying to brainstorm different projects that would fit with the beautiful luxurious-ness of the theme I couldn’t help but think of a conditioning body butter, as every single one I’ve made has been the epitome of luxury. This one is no different—it leaves your skin feeling all kinds of soft and pampered, it smells divine, and it is the perfect companion to the hand lotion. Prepare to fall in love!

Mango Mango Shampoo Bar

Today’s recipe is definitely long overdue, but I wanted to make sure it was on point before I shared it—it’s a sulphate free shampoo bar. I started working on this back in January 2018 and have been testing and tweaking ever since. About six weeks ago I decided to include this in the Mango Mango series, so here we have a Mango Mango Shampoo Bar!

Soothing Cleansing Balm

Our Soothing series continues with this lovely Soothing Cleansing Balm. Up until now all of our soothing projects have included a water phase, and many of our awesome soothing ingredients (cucumber distillate, chamomile hydrosol, urea, etc.) live in that phase. This project is 100% anhydrous—this means many of the ingredients we’ve used before are off the table, but several news ones are now on the table!

Pemberley Hand Lotion

I’m really excited to share this formula with you guys—this Pemberley Hand Lotion was my Formula Botanica final project, and I received a mark of 100% for it! The project was to create a product for a specific customer. I designed this gorgeous hand lotion for professional women, aged 30–40, who work in an office setting. It had to be ultra hydrating but also super fast absorbing so the user wouldn’t leave greasy fingerprints on papers or touch screens. The scent had to be soft as heavily perfumed products are frowned upon in office settings, but I also wanted it to be luxurious and pleasing to give the user a bit of a sensory break from their busy day. This is what I came up with!
