Forest Cleansing Balm

I’m happy to report that Danny has been loving the Forest Facial Cleanser I made him (I’m loving it, too!), so I thought I’d extend the collection. And guys—this is the best cleansing balm I’ve ever made. It has the most amazing creamy consistency, beautiful rinse off, and is all kinds of silky and smooth and downright decadent. I think I’m hopping back to cleansing balms from cleansing oils with this Forest Cleansing Balm recipe! For now, at least… I never can leave well enough alone!

Forest Facial Cleanser

I dreamt up this cleanser for my friend and super-awesome yoga instructor Danny. He’s pretty much the sole reason I’ve been able to start running again, so when he mentioned he’d be interested in trying some of the things I make, I was on it (I definitely prefer to thank people with personalized DIY concoctions instead of a bottle of wine or flowers wherever possible). I was immediately drawn to the idea of a coniferous-y cleanser, and though I made this Forest Facial Cleanser over a month ago, it seems fitting to share it while I’m relaxing in the middle of a forest in Manitoba.

Yogurt Oat Face Mask

A couple months ago I made a pretty awesome discovery—yogurt + my face. It’s not so much the yogurt as the probiotics that live in it; millions of little happy bacteria, living some sort of pastoral life in my fermented milk product. Well, that’s how I like to imagine them, at least. I figure Belle from Beauty and the Beast is just about to frolic through the field they graze in, singing about how she wants so much more than this provincial liiiiiiiife (why yes, I did recently go see the new live action version… why do you ask?). Anyhow; this mask. This mask combines probiotic goodness with soothing oats and pore de-junking clay for some awesome probiotic skin goodness. Prepare to fall in love.

Green Tea Coconut Emulsified Sugar Scrub

Today’s Green Tea Coconut Emulsified Sugar Scrub recipe is a request from Regina, who found a lovely (and pricey!) bright green body scrub that was spiked with matcha green tea and peppermint essential oil. I loved the idea of something green and fresh for spring—a scrub to buff away dry winter skin, leaving my super pale legs ready to welcome warmer days. A quick perusal of the ingredient list sparked a few ideas, and off I went!

Holiday Parfait Face Mask

These cute jars of Holiday Parfait Face Mask make fantastic gifts as well as fantastic face masks. Layers of different colours of clay stack up in cute jars for the perfect stocking stuffer that’ll pamper the pores of anybody lucky enough to be on your gifting list. The silky combination of two relatively gentle clays means this blend is great for most complexions, and it smells wonderfully of sweet vanilla and bright pine. Yum!

The Clay Experiments: The French Clays

I love my clays, and it’s about time I got to know them a bit better. My oil and wax experiments have been invaluable to me and many readers, so I thought I’d take that approach and to my clay collection. Today we’re starting with the French Clays I own: green and red.
