World Travel Inspired Essential Oil Diffuser Blends

Traveling is downright addictive, and I’ve got a serious case of wanderlust. One of my favourite things in the world is stepping off an airplane and smelling the air in a new place for the first time. It’s never the nicest smelling air I’ll come across on the trip, but it’s my first impression, and if we’re being honest, anything is nice after hours of recycled airplane air.

Anyhow, in an attempt to assuage my wanderlust, I’ve devised five world travel inspired scent blends to use in my Saje Aroma Cloud ultrasonic diffuser. They’re inspired by cities and landscapes from all over the world—some I’ve visited and some I’m still just dreaming of. I hope you enjoy them as much as I am.

Honey Ginger Hand Lotion

I am so in love with this wonderful hand lotion. It’s light and sinks into your skin in a flash, but leaves your skin moisturized and happy. It smells warm and sweet, and slightly spicy from the ginger. It’s smooth and lovely, and I am thoroughly smitten.

Coco-Lemon Body Lotion

A few months ago my favourite tea shop, DavidsTea, ran a contest they called “Think Outside the Mug”. It was right up my alley, challenging entrants to come up with creative ways to use tea. This was one of my entries. It’s based around their Coco-Lemon Thai tea, but can easily be made with a plain green or white tea, or just straight water.

Spicy Ginger, Sweet Potato, & Bean Stew

Craig’s not much for bragging, so I often end up doing it for him. So, today, I’m here to brag about this awesome stew/soup he made one winter weekend. It’s loaded with awesome things like sweet potatoes and carrots, with boatloads of ginger and garlic, which are great winter immune system boosters. I’m sure they’re more potent raw, but they taste nicer cooked.

Milky Chai Bath Salts

It used to be that a milk bath was quite the luxury—said to soften the skin and otherwise spoil you (and the milk, I suppose). They seem to have somewhat fallen out of fashion (or memory), but I’d like to bring them back. I’ve decided to update them with some inspiration from one of my all time favourite creamy winter beverages, the Chai Latté.

Pecans in Spiced Caramel

I’ve been making these delicious pecans for so long that I can’t believe I’ve never shared them here before. I was waxing poetic about them to a friend, and they asked (likely a bit humorously) if the recipe was on my blog. I had to say it wasn’t. Well, it’s about time to remedy that, and what better time than Christmas, as these tasty nuts are so good on salads and desserts?
