Lavender Patchouli Body Butter

I’ve been playing with lots of more complex DIYs lately, and I was itching to get back to something a bit simpler. Something made with wonderful plant-sourced oils and butters that are accented with essential oils. The sort of thing that isn’t intimidating, and really lets some of my favourite ingredients shine. That’s how we ended up here! This simple, rich Lavender Patchouli Body Butter combines a few lovely ingredients in carefully crafted amounts to create something indulgently creamy and moisturizing from some stuff you probably already have.

Eucalyptus Mint Foot Butter

In theory, sandal season is on its way. I say “in theory” because right now the concept of spring seems more like a sad, mocking joke rather than the (supposedly) current season. It hasn’t been warmer than -10°C at 7am for weeks. Our highs are 10–20°C colder than is typical for this time of year. It’s still snowing nearly every day. Insert choice language expressing frustration and exasperation here. Hrmph. Anywho—in a showing of faith in the sun eventually remembering what’s up, I have whipped up this simple-yet-decadent foot butter, using just a handful of natural ingredients. It’s soft, silky, and rich without being too greasy. This Eucalyptus Mint Foot Butter leaves skin with a satiny finish and a touch of minty freshness. Lovely!

Eucalyptus Mint Cleansing Oil

This silky smooth Eucalyptus Mint Cleansing Oil is really quite lovely; freshly herbal and minty, with a touch of a cooling tingle that definitely helps perk one up first thing in the morning. I tried a new solubilizer and I really like it—the cleansing oil rinses off beautifully and isn’t too drying. It comes together quickly and easily, and I’ve included a big list of substitutions and alternatives at the end of the recipe so you can easily adjust it and make it work with whatever you have on hand.

Eucalyptus Mint Hand Wash

To many people, February is the month of cinnamon hearts and boxes of chocolate, or perhaps feeling a bit sorry for oneself whilst watching a Nicholas Sparks’ film and lamenting your single-dom. That’s really just one day, though. In my experience, February is the month of washing my hands a whole lot and really, really hoping I don’t come down with whatever plague all my friends on Facebook are lamenting. Urg. I currently have that plague, and I am not amused. It is highly lamentable. Perhaps I shall come up with something pithy to post on Facebook regarding mucus (doubtful). Anywho—being sick is wretched, hand washing helps keep it from happening, and this Eucalyptus Mint Hand Wash is a lovely way to stop germs from setting up camp in your head.

Winter Custard Soap

This simple, warm, wintery soap is just the thing for January. The first month of the year is typically hit with at least one cold snap here in Calgary, necessitating hot tea and warm baking and a general refusal to leave the house for anything less important than a tropical vacation (or a dog walk). I might, however, make an exception for some warm spiced bread pudding, good whiskey, and good company. While devoid of both whiskey and raisins, this Winter Custard soap can be your sudsy cold snap respite, with its lovely sparkly top and warm, creamy yellow colour. Mmmm.
