This cold-processed face serum does a whole lot of awesome things: it hydrates, brightens, reduces fine lines, evens out skin tone, boosts barrier function, soothes, softens, and might also know exactly which mango in that display at the grocery store will taste the best (no promises about that last one, though 😝). If you watched my recent ingredient deep-dive into niacinamide and have been thinking you should make something awesome with it, I think this Brighten & Boost Facial Serum is a fabulous choice!
This all-natural Skin Brightening Toner Mist formulation is part hydrating toner and part serum, featuring some fantastic soothing, moisturizing, barrier-boosting, and brightening ingredients. It’s quite simple to make, with just a wee bit of heating, and you can easily customize the scent by using your favourite hydrosol to create a uniquely yours skin treat. I’m really enjoying it as the middle step of my skincare routine, sandwiched between cleansing and creams, and I hope you do, too!
Today I’m sharing a formulation I’ve had a ton of requests for; an all-natural, sulfate-free liquid shampoo! This Rose & Silk Clarifying Shampoo was one of my Formula Botanica Diploma in Organic Haircare Formulation final projects (if you’d like to read my full review of the course, click here). I formulated this shampoo to have rich & decadent lather, a soft scent, and to improve shine and bounce. Because of the all-naturalness, it does use a few ingredients that are new to Humblebee & Me or rarely used; please refer to the substitution suggestions at the end of the formulation if you don’t have everything. Let’s dive in!
This silky Hemp & Shea Hand and Body Lotion is another Bee Better project, riffing on and updating the Healing Herbal Hemp & Shea Lotion I shared back in October 2014. This version keeps many of the same ingredients and very much riffs on the same themes of soothing, boosting healing, and moisturizing the skin—things I just can’t get enough of in the winter!
Today’s DIY is a beautiful Passionfruit Coconut Conditioning Body Lotion. This rich emulsion is not only a great hand and body lotion, but it also makes a fantastic hair conditioner! Depending on your hair (and how much you use), it can be anything from a hair mask to a rinse-our cream conditioner to a leave-in conditioner. Starring luxurious passionfruit oil and fragrant virgin coconut oil, this lotion has a really lovely powdery dry-down that leaves skin and hair feeling divine ❤️
If you’ve been reading Humblebee & Me for more than a few weeks, I’m sure you’ve heard me say that Calgary (where I live) is dry. It’s the kind of dry where bread usually goes stale rather than sprouting mould. If I visit somewhere humid and buy crackers they are probably going to go all floppy and soggy on me because I am not in the habit of carefully re-sealing bags of things that are supposed to be crispy because, well… they’d stay crispy sitting in an open bowl in my kitchen at home! While this dry-ness is very handy for things like airdrying laundry, it’s less awesome for my skin, as you can probably guess by the constant parade of moisturizing skincare formulations I share! Today’s project is another float in my dry-skin-battling parade—a richly hydrating Hyaluronic Acid B5 Serum.
