Whipped Minty Foot Scrub

I really like going barefoot during the summer. My bathtub and typically clean floors really wish I wouldn’t. There’s something about dirty feet that just end up being a whole different level of dirty. You’ll give them what feels like a fairly dedicated sudsing with a loofah and some body wash and you’ll still leave a black heelmark in the tub directly afterwards, despite being certain your feet were clean. Dangit, feet! That’s where this Whipped Minty Foot Scrub comes in.

Creamy Stick Lip Tints

When it comes to makeup I actually wear on a regular basis I find I tend towards subtle, easy-to-apply stuff (read: stuff that goes on easily and lightly enough that it disguises my amateurish makeup application skills). These lip tints were born of my initial experiments with TKB Trading’s new lipstick mold, and I was swept off my feet from the first application. A bright, punchy tube of pigment that blends in with my natural lip colour to create a fantastic, wearable, and easily applied hit of colour? Colour me sold.

Creamy Lip Balm

This rich, creamy lip balm came out of the experiments I did as I was developing my recipe for my Basic Moldable Lipstick Base. It was the far end of my “let’s make this creamier” experiments, and while I loved how it felt, it basically glued itself to the inside of the lipstick mold and refused to budge. Not one to let something that luxxy go to waste, though, I decided it should be a lip balm instead!

Makeup Eraser Sticks

This idea was born out of perusing one of those in-flight catalogues whilst I was undoubtedly quite bored. You know the type—you can order Arwen Evenstar’s pendant, a mini-putt for the corner of your office, and a brand of makeup you’ve never heard of that is apparently huge in Europe. One of the items in this catalogue was some sort of makeup eraser stick; a compact twist-up tube of some substance that would help you tidy up cosmetic snafus—a cat eye that’s headed for the hills, or some mascara that liked the looks of your eyebrows. I liked the idea, and the ingredients gave it away as a simple cleansing balm, so this is my DIY take on it.

Lemon Rose Tinted Lip Balm

After returning from a week in Toronto earlier this month my lips were a mess. Toronto is wonderfully humid whilst Calgary is… not… and my lips had been spoilt with all that decadent, skin-loving humidity. The return to Calgary saw my lips pitching a very uncomfortable hissy fit. Thankfully, I’d whipped up a batch of this creamy, occlusive, tinted lip balm before leaving. I’ve been loving softer, thicker lip balms lately—the type that you can really build up if need be. I’ve been trying such a lip balm from La Roche-Posay and figured I should try making one of my own (plus a tint because… 😍), and here we are!

Conditioning Super Nourishing Hair Balm

One of the first recipes I ever shared on Humblebee & Me was for a “Super Nourishing Hair Balm“, all the way back in October of 2011. I’d actually made the balm months earlier, before I’d launched the blog, and had been testing it all summer and fall before I suddenly had a platform to share it on. Over the years many people have made it, and many more have asked about substitutions for items in the rather lengthy ingredient list. I thought it was high time I revisited this idea to improve on it—after all, I’ve learned a lot since 2011!
