Spicy Ginger, Sweet Potato, & Bean Stew

Craig’s not much for bragging, so I often end up doing it for him. So, today, I’m here to brag about this awesome stew/soup he made one winter weekend. It’s loaded with awesome things like sweet potatoes and carrots, with boatloads of ginger and garlic, which are great winter immune system boosters. I’m sure they’re more potent raw, but they taste nicer cooked.

Caramelized Onion & Chévre Quiche

You might not think so, but quiche has a lot going for it. Its versatile, delicious, and pretty hard to mess up. You can make it vegetarian friendly or load it up with bacon. You can eat it hot or cold, and for any meal of the day (including brunch, which is sort of the honorary fourth meal). But, best of all, the leftovers are so easy. And if you know me and leftovers, you know that I love them. Because, you see, without leftovers, I have beer and sweet potato fries for dinner far more than I should.

Hummus, Avocado, and Sprout Sandwich

We went to Golden, BC a few weeks ago, and it was fantastic. So much fun! We camped, climbed, and went mountain biking. I bought copious amounts of raw honey from a great roadside shop (more on that later), got some much needed sunshine, and enjoyed the stunning scenery. We also enjoyed some delicious camping and road food, and while everything was delicious (as it tends to be when you’re camping and famished), this sandwich really stuck out.

BBQed Veggie & Halloumi Sandwich

After I invented this sandwich I had it for dinner 3 nights in a row. Yum. It’s loaded with veggies and all kinds of great vegetarian fats and proteins, it’s messy to eat, and it is delicious.


Oddly enough, I love the messiness of this sandwich. It drips, slips, and is perfect with sweet potato fries on a sunny patio with a beer. Squeaky halloumi, creamy avocado, goat cheese, and a stack of all the best roasted vegetables. Utterly fantastic.


BBQ Pizza

I adore pizza—while it’s great in the winter, I feel like it really shines in the summer when you can enjoy it with fresh produce, out in the sunshine with a nice, cold pint. Unfortunately I don’t have a pizza oven, so the other great thing about summertime is being able to cook pizza right on the BBQ. It’s easier than you think, and gives you a fantastic crust (assuming you don’t torch it, of course).
