Hand Wash for Lots of Handwashing

While frequent, thorough hand washing has always been a very important part of personal hygiene practices, its importance has skyrocketed recently as COVID-19 spreads around the world. Proper handwashing works better than hand sanitizer, but you do need to do it properly, and for long enough—I found this video from CBC really helpful for upping my handwashing game. Anywho, I formulated this hand wash to be suitable for lots & lots & lots of handwashing. It smells pretty, lathers beautifully, and glides around for ages so you can happily scrub-a-dub for the recommended handwashing time. Let’s dive in!

Argan Rose In-Shower Body Conditioner

Today we’re revisiting a project I first shared in May 2014—a rich body lotion inspired by a popular LUSH product—as part of my Bee Better work. This six-years-later update features a new emulsifier, fully percentage-ified amounts, clearer instructions, and a hefty dose of moisturizing vegetable glycerin for super-soft skin. It smells wonderfully of roses and lemon and leaves your post-shower skin feeling fantabulous!

Lavender Aloe Lotion

We’re continuing our Lavender Aloe theme today with a dusty purple lotion with a gorgeous powdery finish. It smells softly of lavender and quickly vanishes into your skin, leaving it feeling richly moisturized with no greasiness. Featuring soothing aloe vera juice, moisturizing colloidal oatmeal, rich murumuru butter, and anti-inflammatory panthenol, it’s a fabulous treat for your skin. This thick and creamy pot of goodness is my current bedside table favourite, where I can apply it to dry hands and legs before drifting off to sleep. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am!

Argan Rose Pressed Shampoo Bars

These beautiful Argan Rose Pressed Shampoo Bars were inspired by a popular LUSH product, and I’ve had a ton of fun developing and testing this formulation. It is structured very differently from other shampoo bars I’ve shared, with no melted fatty hardeners like cocoa butter or stearic acid. It also includes water, glycerin, and carrageenan, which all seemed rather novel when I first started working on these, but I’m thrilled with how it’s all turned out. The finished bars lather up incredibly decadently—if there’s such a thing as “too much” lather, this might be it! Rich, silky bubbles for days 😍 I’ve been using this bar as a shampoo and body wash, and I hope you love it as much as I do!

Little E’s Lemon Shea Hand Lotion

Today’s lotion is one I created at the request of some friends. Their daughter (Little E) had painfully dry, cracked hands through the winter, and she really didn’t like to use lotion as most of it stung and hurt. That really resonated with me as that’s what my hands were like when I was younger. I remember my mom applying lotion to my hands before bed and it stinging to the point of tears. It was awful. So, I asked Little E what she’d like her new lotion to smell like, we settled on lemon, and then I set to work.

Lavender Aloe Foaming Hand Wash

Today we’re creating a lovely Lavender Aloe Foaming Hand Wash—a cheery purple liquid that transforms into mounds of rich, lavender-scented lather when you run it through a foamer top bottle. It comes together in a flash and is easy to scale up so you can always have hand wash on hand (ha). Let’s make some bubbles!
