ParticipantBOOYAH! And another page bites the dust! And another page and another page bites the dust!
I’m not sure why, but good green eye liners and green eye makeup in general can never be found in China. So when I want to look pretty, I don’t get to wear my favourite colour!
So! The pot on the left is the Olive Creamy Eye Liner, I followed the recipe as is (only used 1/4tsp green). The pot on the right I decided to make the Forest Green. You can see the stripes. First stripe is the Olive, and every stripe towards my thumb is me adding in another 1/8tsp of black.
I thought the Forest Green on its own was just way too bright for my liking and wanted something darker. You can kind of see by the time I got to 5/8 it stopped being a smooth application so doubled the recipe just using black as the pigment. And finally got a dark green I liked!
I’ll practice applying it in the morning and try to post some pictures of it applied.

ParticipantVery pretty colors!

ParticipantWow! You have been busy and what beautiful greens you have there!
I’m impressed, you are not afraid of color. I love green because I can wear it, so I’ll refer to your post when I brave the greens. Now how about some grays? My coloring says No but gray compliments me with no explanation.

ParticipantI wear a lot of grey as it seems to make my skin look darker. But never even thought of a grey eye liner. Hum. That would be interesting! I wonder what that would do to my eye colour?
Have you tried making the eye liner?

ParticipantSee, I think gray -or grey- makes me look paler but not in a bad way. I’m brown red haired and brown eyed with warm yellow undertones and gray -or grey- flatters me.
I’m putting in my order for charcoal liner and *gray shadow because you’re a little Speedy Gonzales with this hobby 😀. I can’t compete. You win!
*Grey

ParticipantI’m just lucky. I wake ridiculously early and usually have till lunch time before anyone is up to putter and create. Which suits me well!
I can’t wait to create some more colours. The girls at work yesterday gushed that my eyes were crazy green yesterday. BOOYAH for greens! Next colours I want to try is a few purples, or maybe a steel blue/grey. My sister was saying the steel blue/greys will make the blues in my eyes pop.

ParticipantI have brown hair and eyes, but who wants brown eyeliner? Greens and blues are much more striking and fun! A steely blue/gray sounds beautiful! I’m thinking I might create a coppery brown colored one too. Possibilities are endless!

ParticipantI have green eyes, blonde hair- so I lean more to grey, purple or brown eyeliners. Black makes me look like a kid playing in Mom’s makeup.
I love neutrals, greys, and plums. Occasionally I’ll use a green, but normally, I’m boring. Lol. I’d like to add some silver, bronze, maybe a gold.
The big thing I need to learn is how to all,y it without a pencil. I have no skill. Like none. I mentioned before how I rarely use liner, that’s one reason why. This should be interesting. Lol

ParticipantCynnara, I need to learn how to apply eyeliner with a brush too. I don’t use eyeliner too often because it irritates my skin and eyes, so I’m not great with a pencil either. It should be interesting learning to apply it with a brush.
Zil, I say go for it! It’s always good to recycle!

ParticipantYay! Belinda and I need beginner eyeliner classes. Pencil I have some trouble with, some irritate, some don’t. But I’m with you- I tend not to wear them because of it. (It’s why I’m ordering some candelilla wax due to your suggestion. Brilliant.)
Question is- which brush is best for eye lining? What if you prefer a slightly smudged but not too thick of a line? Omg, how can I do this?

ParticipantPer Marie’s suggestion, I went to Target and bought just about every type of brush Elf had. One was an eyeliner brush, very small, fine-tipped, and angled for easy application. I am seriously going to have to practice with it!
Cynnara, I have both candelilla and carnauba wax. A bag of soy wax too but I think it’s to make candles, so I’m not sure how it would translate into cosmetic making. But, since this stuff seems really inexpensive to make, I might putter around with it and see what happens. I also bought some sample bags of rice bran wax, sunflower wax, and double “candy” wax (candelilla but has a higher melting point, I think the website said) from TKB when I ordered my other supplies. I’m sure to find something that will work in all that!

ParticipantCynnara, I’m glad my “I cannot believe how stupid I am sometimes” moment with the mascara/beeswax thing has helped someone. I still can’t believe I’m just now figuring THAT one out!
January 15, 2017 at 4:42 pm #18407Cynnara
ParticipantI would never consider mascara has wax. Clay, yes. Wax, nope. I’ll have to make a Target run then. Luckily I have one less than 2 miles away.
So, I want many waxes. I can see me being the wax lady. I was looking at the candy wax too! I ordered a sample to try. I’m liking the idea of rice bran wax, especially since rice bran oil is so light. If I can keep my beeswax to a minimum, that can only benefit me.
I need to search out videos on eyeliner techniques. This will be like school revisited. Oy vey.
