Glycerin (Is it drying in high amounts?)

I was using a friend’s lotion from Lush and found it quite sticky, so it was no surprise that it was the third ingredient on this list. I have read that in high amounts glycerin can be drying, but I thought a cosmetic company like Lush would know this information. Am I correct?
