Deep red cranberries lend themselves beautifully to a Christmassy tinted lip balm, so it’s no surprise that this lip balm hit my to-do list as soon as I knew one of our holiday themes would be cranberry orange. Today’s silky tinted lip balm gives the lips just enough colour that you don’t have to apply it while looking in a mirror (watch the video to see it in action!), and the semi-sheer red hue is universally flattering. The making part is super easy so you can easily whip up a batch in no time—these beauties make great stocking stuffers (try tying a tube to a candy cane!) and are sure to be a fast favourite among anyone lucky enough to receive a tube 😄

Today’s DIY is a soft, lightly glossy lip balm that smells deliciously of rosé with a beautiful pink punch. It’s a continuation of our rosé series, starring a stunning scent blend of fresh & dry green cognac essential oil, sweet rose, and bright citrus. This scent blend is always lovely, but it’s positively perfect for lip balm—I gave away about a dozen tubes of this lovely balm at the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild 2019 Annual Conference in Dallas, TX and every recipient remarked on how downright lovely this lip balm smells!

I’ve been gifting homemade lip balm to friends and family for so long now that people have told me they just hold out for Christmas rather than buy more—and I’m definitely not going to let them down! This year’s holiday lip balm is Sugar Plum themed (it seemed much more lip-compatible than Christmas Tree!). It is softly purple, deliciously fragrant, and it has got staying power that’s suited to colder winter temperatures. I think you’ll like it!

This rich, creamy lip balm came out of the experiments I did as I was developing my recipe for my Basic Moldable Lipstick Base. It was the far end of my “let’s make this creamier” experiments, and while I loved how it felt, it basically glued itself to the inside of the lipstick mold and refused to budge. Not one to let something that luxxy go to waste, though, I decided it should be a lip balm instead!

Back in December I picked up Laniege’s Lip Sleeping Mask at San Francisco’s Duty Free shop during a rather long stop-over on my way to New Zealand. I’d read about the product working wonders for super dry lips and was intrigued by those claims and also by the idea of having something novel to entertain me, however briefly, on my upcoming 13-hour flight across the Pacific.
