ParticipantMisty, I’m norther (a real word) than you, up in Gilmer. But even the higher elevation doesn’t save us from heat/humidity. If it’s humid but not even hot as the sun is setting, sweat still drips off me onto sunglasses, shirt, shoes…tomatoes. I sweat like a man and it’s not pretty, is it? But my oldest lives in Cherokee and that concrete is misery.
Belinda, you’ll love the foundation! I like your description of the heat. I used to tell people to imagine wrapping yourself in plastic wrap and going into 100° sun, when I lived in Savannah. It’s better up here.
The humidity may give the foundation a good time, but I do suspect it’ll last at least better than anything I’ve used. And who needs to look immaculate picking green beans anyway?
I may or may not be that vain 🙂Cristie
ParticipantI tried to read the entire article, honest, but all those big words at this hour of the night just made my head swim.
So I just make sure the water and oils turn white when I add them together. And let it sit one minute to be sure and that’s it.
My second lotion attempt never quite emulsified because the water and oil were not the same temp. I still have that lotion cause I can’t throw it out. It’s Marie’s lemon cleanser cream she posted years ago. It’s a nice cleaner if I give it a good shake 🙂.Cristie
ParticipantInteresting. I still think I’ll do the all over thin foundation and on those special days, conceal whatever needs concealing.
My biggest problem is nothing conceals my under eye puffy’s. Little kids with those under eye puffy’s I find adorable. Mine were adorable once upon a time but now they’re not. Not one bit.
Help!Cristie
ParticipantI like the wine inclusion!
Did you absolutely love the foundation?

ParticipantI started a post here yesterday but must have not entered it correctly.
Here’s my small list of suppliers for anyone looking to compare prices or products from their own list.TBK Of course. They’ve been around for years and do have all the powders. And carmine which is so hard to find.
Soapgoods.com
Essential oils. You can usually buy small .06 sizes to test before investing in larger bottles. Good prices. Oils, butters, pigments, clays and general ingredients.CamdenGray.com
My favorite but still hard to swallow their shipping cost. In my opinion, great quality eo’s and fairly priced, oils, butters and such. Usually when I compare shopping lists side by side, shipping included, this company comes in the winner, considering the four free samples you can choose. Big samples. I’m holding a free 1/2oz bottle of seabuckthorn pulp Co2 extract.Everyone knows Brambleberry. I only buy extracts from them but they carry darn near everything.
PipingRock.com
It’s a health food type site but lots of BOGO sales on essential oils. There’s always sales and you can buy some clays and other oils. It’s a great way to get your eo stash built, especially if you buy with a friend.Cristie
ParticipantHouse arrest??? Do tell Penny!
I’m married, two beautiful sons and four minus one dog. I was born in Michigan and moved to Savannah, Georgia some years ago. After a few years of serious goal planning, we sold our house and paid cash for our home in the mountains. We are 100% debt free. My youngest son is building a house next to us and our oldest just obtained the property on our other side. What I’m saying is I’m the happiest I’ve been in my life. I come to this website happy and complete and looking for online friends.
Marie’s beautiful site and her totally down to earth and humble personality earned my attention over all others out there. But I dislike winter, you happy Canadians. I am from Michigan after all and it was brutal. Granted, my winters are on the mild side and short but I miss outside. I miss jumping on my ATV and going without bundling up. I miss my garden. I miss picnics in the forest.
OK I can still picnic but I have to wear a coat.Cristie
ParticipantI plan to give Marie’s shampoo bar alternatives a try because making all these things has really filled the quiet hours of my life. But I guess I’m lucky that the CP soap and citric acid rinses work for me.
Actually it makes no sense because I have extremely porous hair and the soap, as we know, opens up those strands even more. But in the 21 months of using soap, my hair behaves in humidity a tad better. Just a tad. Or pinch, dash or smidgen. (My new itty bitty spoons are always in my thoughts)Cristie
ParticipantMarie, I immediately ordered the spoons you use! Already delivered and a better quality, too.
I need to pay more attention when I read. I thought your beauty blender was a blender.
I have an ancient Krupps coffee grinder, used daily for coffee and a brand new Hamilton Beach grinder that died. Bought from Walmart, you get what you pay for. At least I was able to make a large batch of eyeshadow base that I can still have fun with until I replace the blender.Belinda, we share the same climate. I’m way up in North Georgia, very near your Tennessee line. I believe this foundation will not end up dripping down to your shoes!

ParticipantWhat I can tell you that might be helpful is that both my skin and my youngest son’s skin do not react badly to either oil. The Marula we have been using over a year in an oil mixture I made.
For him, no breakouts and that’s important to pass on. I always worry a little about oils and pores.Cristie
ParticipantWait, beauty blender? Something new? Because after making the finishing dust, my coffee blender died and I need another. Do you have something that will hold up better?
Cristie
ParticipantI do plan to make this in liquid. I have PLENTY of dry foundation to spare.
I had a slight accident in making my batch of powdered.
I did not buy a recommended set of itty bitty spoons, like you said we should. I have since bought the recommended spoons. You can’t always go cheap.
I didn’t do a test measure to compare true sizes of spoons like you said we should. I was meticulous in measuring the powders but not so the pigments. So my medium skin tone I made was three times too dark for my face. I simply tripled the batch and lightened it up. And it’s perfect. I meant every word I said, and have plenty to say about the eye shadow. It’s perfection and I’ll gush about it tomorrow.
I know you put a ton of time into these recipes and it shows. Good work!

ParticipantI love love love forums. I too have hung out on quite a few and have seen the ugly but I met one of my favorite friends in the whole world 10 years ago online. We’ve gone through motherhood stories, her divorce, her dating and her incredible new life as a new married woman, together.
She’s spent a few nights glued to her phone for hours, comforting me as tornadic storms swept over my area. Nothing in our lives has happened that we don’t know. We send gifts for Christmas and birthdays and she’s my main recipient for Marie’s concoctions. Lucky her.
We’ve shared more as ‘strangers’ than most people can. We text daily, for 10 years but have never heard each other’s voice. We’re text pals.Thank you, Marie for giving this a go! I’m going to love it. I think we all are. Now I must go gush about Marie’s life altering foundation.
Cristie
ParticipantI’m liking the sound of these but oh boy, more ingredients to buy. Not a bad thing 🙂
