The only hipstery thing about this drink is that I like to have it in a mason jar. A one pint mason jar is the perfect size, and hey, I feel all cool and vintage-y using one. Plus, this mango drink is super tasty and very, very easy.

I found a box of mango purée at my local Asian market. Normally I’m not a big advocate of buying things that have already been puréed and packaged instead of buying them fresh, but when you live in Canada, you quickly realize that fresh mangoes are often the worst mangoes you can eat. Our fresh mangoes come from Mexico, and no offense Mexico, but your mangoes are pretty sub-par. Southeast Asia does mangoes right, and if you’re willing to buy them dried, frozen, or puréed, you can have them here in Canada. Otherwise, no dice.

I started by squeezing the mango purée out into an ice cube tray and freezing myself a dozen little mango cubes. That’s pretty much where this finishes as well.

To serve, put three mango cubes in a pint glass and top with a can of soda water. Let the mango melt a bit and stir before drinking. Stir as you go, enjoying the growing mango-y taste!
